The Department of Chemical Engineering, with 50+ academics and 170+ PhD students, tackles four broader quality-of-life challenges: energy; health and well-being; sustainability; and water. It comprises 10 research groups that overlap and support each other. The Department of Chemical Engineering also houses the Industrial Hub for Sustainable Engineering in the James Chadwick Building, offering pilot plant, laboratory, and workshop facilities to industrial collaborators, along with the support of an excellent team of academic and professional services staff.
- Role in the ELEKTRA project
The University of Manchester leads WP2 and is responsible for developing modelling activities for membranes, e-reactors, and prototypes, as well as conducting parametric analyses, techno-economic assessments (TEA), and KPI evaluations for the ELEKTRA scenarios.
